Deborah Baird, Esquire

Mediator

Deborah Baird is a highly respected litigator and mediator with more than 40 years of experience handling complex, high-exposure litigation and resolving difficult disputes. She brings to her mediation practice the perspective of a seasoned trial attorney who has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in catastrophic injury, professional liability and family law matters, including medical malpractice, product liability, mass torts, transportation and wrongful death litigation.

Now serving with ADR Options, Ms. Baird combines decades of courtroom experience with extensive formal training in negotiation and mediation. She has completed more than 150 hours of mediation and negotiation coursework, primarily through the Executive Education Program at Harvard Law School and through CORA Services/Good Shepherd Mediation. In addition to her litigation background, this advanced training and collaboration with mediators from across the country have enhanced her ability to navigate difficult negotiations and overcome obstacles to resolution.

Throughout her career, Ms. Baird has participated in numerous mediations involving catastrophic injuries, complex liability issues, substantial damages, and significant insurance considerations. Her experience gives her a sophisticated understanding of case valuation, litigation risk, jury dynamics, settlement strategy, and the practical realities that influence resolution decisions for plaintiffs, defendants, insurers, and corporate clients alike.

Ms. Baird is particularly well suited to mediate cases involving complex medical, scientific, engineering, and technical issues. Over the course of her litigation career, she handled catastrophic injury and multi-million-dollar exposure matters while working extensively with nationally recognized physicians, engineers, economists, and scientific experts. She developed a reputation for translating highly technical concepts into clear, understandable language that promotes informed decision-making and productive negotiation.

Her practice experience spans the full spectrum of civil litigation from routine to highly sophisticated matters. Because she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants throughout her career, Ms. Baird understands the strategic, financial, and emotional considerations that influence every stage of the litigation process. She is known for her preparation, professionalism, credibility, persistence, and ability to build trust with litigants, counsel, claims professionals, and risk managers.

Ms. Baird approaches mediation with neutrality, patience, and a practical focus on helping parties realistically evaluate risk and opportunity to achieve durable and meaningful resolutions.
